The “double portion of Elisha” is the birthright of every real Christian, his possession by the indwelling Holy Spirit of power and holiness. This was revealed in the calling and the two first miracles of Elisha, as later it was shown in the lives of the apostles and the early Christians. Pastor Percy Gutteridge clearly explains why Elisha asked Elijah for a “double portion” in 2 Kings 2.
